Everest Base Camp trip with my Japanese guest.

You can read about my recent trip with Japanese client "Ryosei & Satoko Suzuki" by clicking their personal website.  (You need to use translate it from Japanese to English").

I copied English version below this image. ( I am in this picture.!!)

Suzuki's  couple who is traveling around the world with two Cameras, two Tripods, 9TB HDDs and plenty of curiosity,  started to see world from 2011 after their wedding party. Following is their twitter page.

Also you can see their youtube video on their blog or click following link

Video of me with Suzuki's on Kalapathar

The way to the base camp which climbed for 12 days, the way goes down in 3 days how going. The altitude of course only goes down from Gorakshep (5140 m) to Lukla (2840 m) with the airport. So, do not worry about altitude sickness and progress quickly.

When I'm down, the scenery has changed and the stuff is interesting. The mountain trail changes from rubble glacier to earth, grass grows out and trees grow thick. The passing animals passing each other pass from the yak to the goblins, and the sense of the village and the village becomes narrower.

The Everest Highway is getting more and more bustling. Of course the temperature went up and it seemed to be summer when I got to Lukla. However, it gradually became smaller Everest, I felt somewhat attracted by hair loss somehow.

Although it was extremely cold, the everyday life of walking every day in the scenery I had never seen seemed like a dream come true. This trekking is really fun. We returned to Lukla safely, we had a toast with a beer after a long time, and back to Kathmandu with a fear plane again.

It is a contact of Karma (Karma), a guide and coder that you can rely on, thank you for your help this time. If you are a guide to him please feel free to contact (English)! You can book at Lukla's Namaste Lodge, so if you are looking for a guide please do come! He is a gentle reliable person!

You can see the difference how it looks in November and January.

It was cold in November but no snow where as in January it was snow while hiking Kala Pathar and Everest base camp.

Yes it is  October & November is best time to trek Everest base camp but it's not that bad in January also.

You just need to use crampons/gaiters.

Where to stay in Kathmandu during Everest Base Camp Trekking - "Hotel Friends Home"

This is most important part if you are doing solo EBC camping without agency because you will be not aware of local environment.

I would recommend to stay at "Hotel Friends Home" in Thamel Market, Kathmandu.

I am very satisfied with them and will recommend anyone to stay here without any fear or any other issue.

Very good hotel with excellent facilities inside the room as well as unmatched breakfast for FREE.

Very good staff and will help you to carry luggage to your room (as there is no elevator, but you are going EBC!!).

I stayed here for 4 times in 30 days.
  • 2 nights before EBC trek.
  • 3 nights after EBC trek
  • 1 night after coming back from Chitwan National park and going to India.
  • 1 night after coming back from India and before departuring for SFO.
All the time they were storing my luggage free.!!

They came to airport to pick me (FREE) first time to Kathmandu airport so I don't have to worry about. They have driver waiting for me with my name.!!

They arrange taxi every time I want to go for airport.

They book tickets for me to Lukla as well as excellent package for Chitwan Jungle Safari.

Also they will show  you Nepal tourism office to get TIMMS permit. You can go walking (20 min) or take taxi which will not cost more than 200 rupees.

Thanks
Ken

Insurance for Everest Base Camp Trekking in Nepal.

Insurance for Everest Base Camp Trekking in Nepal.

Travel Insurance is good idea if you are trekking to Everest Base camp.

Why take risk ?

Why fear about something will happen to you ?

It cost only $125  from World Nomads which is one of  the reputed insurance company.

This World Nomads Trekking insurance cover  any rescue up to 6000 meters and Everest Base Camp and Kala pathar is only 5300 and 5500 meters.

You are going 17000 - 19000 feet high, which most of them never climbed or hiked that much. You don't know what will happen even if you acclimatize properly.

So it's good idea to have trekking insurance.

I bought it from World Nomads and I  am glad that I did not have to use their service.!!!

But I have peace of mind.!!

I was scared when sitting in Dingboche and Luboche what if something happens so I email World Nomads how they will rescue me even my porter guide was aware of all circumstances.

World Nomads replied me back and after that I was OK.

I think Trekking insurance was best thing I bought for myself and my family.!!

So get Insurance for Everest Base Camp Trekking before you start your journey so everything is covered including your trip cancellation or luggage lost or flight delay in Lukla or you are not feeling well at Gorak Shep.!!

Insurance for Everest Base Camp Trekking is a peaceful thing to have.

Gorakshep Nepal. Overnight stay during Everest base camp

Gorakshep or Gorak Shep is last stop before Everest Base Camp or Kala Pathar.

It is around 17000 feet where trekker stay overnight to summit Kala Pathar.

It's not a big town as you can see there are only 3-4 hotels.

I stayed in Yeti Resort.!! which has room with electric blanket and also American/European style toilet.!! (sharing with all rooms). No rooms with attach bathroom.

Food is very good. You can find all kinds of candy/cookies but it's expensive like hell as all things come through helicopter.

Bottle water itself cost $3.50 (350 Nepali rupee).
