How to hire Porter Guide for Everest Base Camp ?

• Several agency in Kathmandu offer porter guide service for trekking
• Hire directly from Lulka airport when you reach there.
• Hire by email/text/phone with porter with reference from your friend who did EBC with them.

It will cost all same but if you hire directly from Lulka airport or with reference of your friend then porter will get more money which will spread the wealth instead of all money going to middleman(agency owner).

Agency don't pay their porter well. They take away more than 60-70% from what you gave it to them.

By hiring directly from Lukla airport or through reference will be as trusted as agency porter guide as all of them lives in Lukla or Phakding and they know each other.

Also all Sherpa's are nice people so you don't have to worry about cheating or not giving good services.

Also all meals (food), lodging(overnight stay) is included in their daily rates as this are provided free to them by hotel owners. (except in Namche Bazaar where porter will be paying total 600 rupees from his daily rate). 

So please look in to this factors before considering porter service.

They are depending on tourism and it will not cost you fortune but you will remember them for your life.
